Yeah, it's a real shame but they've been getting away with it for years.

Be wary of Bandcamp exclusives or early releases with full previews available that aren't anywhere else. These are the ones z0ne target their fakes on. People don't realise they are unwittingly listening to 128k MP3's.

The problem is the scene release rules are no longer adhered to, if they were this wouldn't be happening (old skool scene rules prohibit changes to the audio, it has to be as it is from the source).

Sure, they download a 128kps MP3 from something like Bandcampdownloader, they then re-sample it from 44.1Khz to 48Khz and back down again, this falsifies the specs, fooling people into thinking it's better than it is.

I did point this out to Elektrobeats before but they banned my original account. If you download a legit release and then a z0ne release and use something like Spek to check the spectogram you'll see what I mean.
