It’s a while since we last hear from Owen Jay. In fact, our records suggest that this is first solo single that the serial collaborator (and Melchior Sultana studio soulmate) has released in almost 11 years. Typically, the music he’s offered up is woozy, drowsy and ultra-deep. For proof, check opener ‘Take Me Deeper (That’s Where I Want To Be)’, a beatdown style shuffle through trippy minor key Rhodes chords, weighty bass and hushed, intricately programmed percussion. He ups the tempo a little on “Bassjam”, wrapping creeping, horror style melodic motifs around another weighty, ocean-deep groove.
