Priori - Pareidolia

Montreal-based producer Priori steps up to Midgar label and helps mark its ninth anniversary with his new EP Pareidolia. It’s a sordid techno affair to start with as ‘Hazard’ layers up sludgy bass with menacing leads. The rolling drum transport you into a dark underworld before ‘Pareidolia’ then plays with deft and hyperactive minimal rhythms next to watery synth droplets. There is a broken beat brilliance to ‘Glass Shards’ with its skittish loops and dubbed-out rhythms then last of all, ‘Memory Palace’ glows with backlit and heavenly synths as minimal rhythms unfold and float you through space. It’s a fantastic tune for 5AM wig-outs.
