More than two years following their debut album, Lastlings are now officially readying their First Contact follow-up. When Amy and Josh Dowdle delivered “Get What You Want” back in October 2022—their first original since the album—there was a reasonable assumption that a larger project was formulating behind the scenes. A half-year and bundle of singles later, Lastlings have given their sophomore LP both a name and due date, revealing that Perfect World lands via RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s Rose Avenue Records at the onset of summer on June 23 and also uncovering the tracklist’s third musical extension, “Noise.”
In the same fashion that “Holding Me Like Water” and “Get What You Want” did earlier this year, “Noise” keeps Lastlings’ newest chapter faultless thus far while further maturing the brother-sister duo’s identity, pulling a more dance-focused lens as Amy reflects on both the good and the bad memories from a previous relationship. With each look into Lastlings’ Perfect World thus far, its title now seems to be validating itself as the Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch alumni sonically details a “journey into adulthood.”
