Uncertain - Combat System

Next up on Marco Faraone’s label is Uncertain aka Rainer Gonaus with an impactful minimal techno release. Drawing inspiration from the 90s work of Dan Bell, Claude Young and Dan Curtin, the prevailing sound on Combat System is raw and analogue. “Bounce” is a frenetic banger led by repetitive tones and firing hi hats, while on ” System” doubled up claps provide the backing for insistent vocal stabs. While “Combat” sees Gonaus go deeper thanks the use of dubbed out chords, its propulsive snare rolls lend it added impetus, and the release quickly swings back to the minimalist approach on the bruising, percussive groove that is “Structure”.
