Tsuba has been a little quiet of late, in part because the label's founder, Kevin Griffiths, has been busy with his Jura Soundsystem project and Isle of Jura imprint. He's picked a great release to reactivate the label after five years though: a fine debut album from Leipzig's Luvless, who first appeared on Tsuba a decade ago. Bookended by atmospheric, ambient style intros and outros, 'Ray' offers an attractive selection of high-quality deep house cuts that sound as good at home as they do in the club. Highlights are plentiful, with our picks of a fine bunch including the super-deep dreaminess of 'Desire', the swirling disco strings and infectious grooves of 'Flowing', the sun-kissed melodiousness of 'Dust', the piano house rush of 'Zest' and the spacey brilliance of standout cut 'Fairlight'.
