The cargo hold was packed with rare minerals from a distant asteroid belt, and the autopilot hummed with mechanical precision. Rex took a sip of his synthetic coffee, grimacing at the taste. It wasnt the synthetic food or the stale recycled air that got to him after all these years; it was the unending day. Out here in the void, there was no horizon, no sunrise or sunset. Just the eternal, oppressive glow of a billion distant stars, burning in the cold expanse of space. Time lost all meaning, days bled into weeks, and it felt like he was drifting through an endless twilight.
