Acid disco chuggers Rule Six return with two cosmic cuts, accompanied by a pair of stellar remixes. Lead track East Side Groove takes a 1970s punk-funk bassline and transports it into 2024, with swirling stabs and transcendent, headrush-inducing synth lines combining to create peak dancefloor moments. tici taci label boss Duncan Gray strips things right back with DGs ESG Mix, transporting us back to CBGBs heyday with live instrument interpretations of the originals synth lines. Citizens of Vice and Solar Phenomena regular Gus Paterson opts for a cosmic Metro Area-esque vibe with his Downtown Fashion Mix. Finishing off the release is another Rule Six original, Heartbeats, which sees them heading north of 120bpm for the first time. A snaking bassline and warm pads gradually build before bursting into a spine-tingling melody that glistens, glides and morphs into something quite beautiful.
