Last year saw the release of three volumes of the ’30 Years Of Strictly Rhythm’ retrospective but the seminal New York label aren’t done mining their back catalogue just yet! For ‘Strictly Rhythms Vol 5’ they hand over the keys to the vaults to Matt Edwards AKA Radio Slave, who’s mashed 23 vintage Strictly cuts into two DJ mixes simply labelled ‘Downtown’ and ‘Uptown’. The first mix (tracks 1-14) finds him in warm-up mode with much use of Dubs and Bonus Beats mixes, while for the second mix (tracks 15-23) he takes us down a more driving and tribalistic route – but rest assured, both sets are every bit as classy and diverse as the label itself.
