Shall Not Fade celebrate their 50th release after 5 years of the label with an all-time favourite and long-time friend, the inimitable Byron the Aquarius. Returning to SNF for his second release on the label, the keyboardist, DJ and producer marks the labels milestone release perfectly. Sunsoaked house with a penchant for acid lines, jazz inspired keys and a bumpin’ groove, What Up Doe? Vol.2 is Byron at his best. A sonic homage to the very beginning for us.
Opener ‘She Want To Work It’ is a masterclass in low-key sass and class, referencing warm, dusty hip-hop beats and daydreams, as it shifts into a luscious, vox heavy kick and clap groove. Futuristic acid lines bubble up on seemingly dreamy dub number, into glitchy electro realms on ‘I Can Feel It’, before imploding into full-blown sci-fi territory on the flip. Here, ‘Apes of Mars pt.2.’ is all nostalgia inducing samples and jazzy melodies, meandering between crunchy beats. Next up, ‘Cosmic Raindance’’s enigmatic, sultry sci
