What’s so special to me about Golden Donna’s (aka Joel Shanahan/Auscultation) music is that it’s different. It’s deep, sometimes dark and shimmering. Always full of emotion. It reaches to you like waves. Joel mixes down onto old school cassette tapes so the music has a hissy warmth you don’t hear elsewhere. It kind of means it’s not perfect and that for me, makes it perfect. Is it techno… yes it is, but of a different kind to what you’re maybe used to. It’s unique, rather fragile and beautiful.
