Paul Hamilton & Dylan Deck - Legacy

An artist pairing that comprises the combined talents of Paul Hamilton and Dylan Deck, "Legacy" showcases the duo's talents with a full-length album on Suffused Music.

Both seasoned performers and producers, award-winning DJ, Paul Hamilton, has found himself performing on a world stage at some of the biggest events including Ministry of Sound, Godskitchen and One Love in Dubai, while also behind the decks in Germany, Switzerland, India and the UK. In tandem, a production career has seen over 300 credits grace such high-profile imprints as Black Hole, Baroque and ARVA, supported by a leading cast of A-list DJs including Armin Van Buuren, Nick Warren and Erick Morillo. A pair of Suffused Music remixes for Subconscious Tales and Ewan Rill were also notable highlights in 2017. Similarly, Dylan Deck has found himself with over a century of impressive production credits to his name since a 2011 debut for Gee Records. Going on to grace numerous well-known underground dance labels, Dylan has been a regular on the likes of Droid9, Astrowave, Balkan Connection and the best-selling Visceral compilation series.

Together, the Malta based pair have seen their collaborative efforts feature on the three-track "Intensity" EP for Transpecta as Paul Hamilton and Dylan Deck now debut on Suffused Music with their 8-track album, "Legacy".

Full of trademark rhythmic intensity and a unique melodic thread that meanders across the hour-long piece, "Legacy" is a tour de force. Opening proceedings, "Nachalo" impresses with shimmering arpeggiated sequence and uneasy dark bassline power, before the textured layers and filtered phrasing of "Allium" evolves into a powerful dance floor force with hypnotic motif and counterpoint melody. The driving energy of "Receptacle" and the "Legacy" title track hit their powerful stride in the third movement with high-energy arpeggios and sustained bassline while textured pads and ticking percussive top-lines add rhythmic anchor.

The glorious string melodies and rasping analogue bassline of "Evelyn" is a joy to behold before pausing for breath at a stripped back breakdown, while the aptly titled "Hypnotized" brings tantalising fx and twisted vocal samples to the fore across a buzzing arrangement of twinkling synths modulated chords and powerful low-end presence.

A throwback to the glory days of dance music, "Manumission" hits the listener between the eyes with its emotive chord progression and huge breakdown build, before pads and arps extend into the third movement with ease. Closing the album, "Stara Zagora" introduces a rich rhythmic cadence that is the perfect vehicle for delayed synth motifs to reveal themselves before a massive bassline sequence introduces itself. Meandering synth lines add to the sonic collage in a well-crafted affair.

Creating an impressive body of work on Suffused Music, Paul Hamilton and Dylan Deck's "Legacy" is secure.
